Upright and electric basss
In the Merseybeat era he played in the Liverpool band The Radiation at iconic nightclubs such as the Blue Angel and Beachcomber. He joined the 1970s band Unity, styled after Blood Sweet & Tears, and played venues across the wider Northwest. He turned to jazz 15 years ago spending time at the Wirral Music Factory and discovering Charles Mingus’s pivotal album Ah Um. His favourite genre is bossa nova.

Izzy Ryder - former earthquake researcher now award winning classical and jazz composer and performer. Her works have been performed in the UK, Europe, the US and Australia. She is published by Oxford University Press.
Ian Wray
Sax and flute
Ian started out as a blues harp player, graduating to flute, then sax. He’s played jazz rock and avant-garde jazz in London, blues in Manchester and was in the Liverpool post punk scene in the legendary Christmas for Snakes: there were memorable gigs in Erics and The Band on the Wall. His musical interests and influences include John Coltrane, Sonny Boy Williamson and the Beatles.
